THE STORY

Haley’s practice takes shape slowly, through paint, observation, and time spent with a canvas. This artist story moves between the person at work and the environment around her: brushes collected in the studio, a palette built up over time, plants against the walls, and a landscape painting taking shape beside the window.

The photographs were made to show more than a finished piece. They offer a view into the working rhythm behind it—quiet concentration, small decisions, and a studio that is as much part of the process as the paint itself. Together, the portraits and process images give Haley a visual introduction that feels personal, grounded, and true to how the work is made.

THE APPROACH

I photographed Haley in the flow of her studio practice, keeping the direction light and the space intact. The goal was to let the existing light, texture, tools, and scale of the canvas do much of the storytelling. Portraits beside the work give the series a clear human center; close process images make the practice tangible.

By moving between wider views and small details, the collection builds a sense of place without overexplaining it. The images feel observational, but each frame is composed to make Haley’s work and point of view easy to remember.
