Breadgirl Bakery — Jalene Cruz Film by Aczel Santana Interview transcript [00:00:00] I just have always really loved baking and I wanted to be able to share my stuff [00:00:06] with family and friends. And it was just the hobby for a really long time in [00:00:11] between school, ballet, anything that I was doing growing up, work, I always reverted [00:00:17] back to baking. I loved how at peace I felt. I definitely see Breadgirl growing [00:00:26] but for right now I'm really happy with it being a small community based out of Reno. [00:00:33] What have you created that you felt so passionate about? [00:00:36] I believe it's got to be the banana miso cookie for sure. I got very frustrated through the process [00:00:44] of creating that cookie and I couldn't get it down. I kept burning batches and I kept having [00:00:50] super flat cookies and then cookies that borderline looked like cake so through trial and error and [00:00:57] finally getting it down to a standard that I was happy with and presenting it to people and then [00:01:02] being happy with it or giving me constructive criticism made me feel very motivated to [00:01:10] continue making things. It's important for me to stay connected to my local community because [00:01:18] they are the people that have allowed me the opportunity to start Breadgirl and continue it. [00:01:26] I love that I get to create a community and that they're growing with me now and seeing the [00:01:33] advancement of Breadgirl. I think that that's just super fascinating and I just want to continue [00:01:38] having those connections with individuals. Two years from now I believe the message I'd want [00:01:44] to leave for myself is that I'm really proud of you and I can't believe that we've made it. [00:01:56] We made a business out of our our hobby and the thing that brought us most happiness and peace as [00:02:03] a kid. I think that's really cool so I hope you have a truck or something that you're selling out [00:02:10] of and that you're still baking with all your friends and family and having pop-up events.
